Join a Teams meeting from an invite
Any Teams invite can be joined from a browser, the app, or a phone call — no account required.
You don't need Teams installed, or even a Teams account, to join a meeting.
Join from the invite
- Open the calendar invite and select Join the meeting now (older
invites: Click here to join the meeting).
- Pick how to join when the browser asks:
- Continue on this browser — no install, works on any computer, or
- Open Teams — if the app is installed.
- Allow the browser or app to use your microphone and camera when prompted —
without this, you'll be in the meeting but silent.
- On the preview screen, check your mic and camera toggles, set your name if
asked, then select Join now.
- If a lobby message appears ("Someone in the meeting should let you in"),
just wait — the organizer admits you.
No computer handy?
Most invites include a phone number and conference ID near the bottom — dial
it and enter the ID to join by audio only.
Two seconds of etiquette
Join muted in shared spaces, and use the raise-hand button in larger meetings
rather than talking over people.
If that didn't work
If the join button does nothing, copy the meeting link and paste it into a
private browser window — a signed-in personal Teams account is the usual
culprit. Still no luck? Dial in by phone so you're not late, then get help
with the computer afterwards.
